Bio:

Stephen E. Lupe, Psy.D., is Director of Behavioral Medicine in the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition at Cleveland Clinic, where his work focuses on transforming how multidisciplinary, whole-person care is designed, delivered, and scaled.
Dr. Lupe has played a key role in the development and expansion of Cleveland Clinic’s integrated medical home model, bringing together medical care, behavioral health, nutrition, and digital health to improve access and outcomes while creating more scalable models of care. Since joining Cleveland Clinic, he has helped grow GI behavioral health from a developing service into a multidisciplinary program that integrates psychologists, dietitians, and digital care capabilities across the patient journey.
A major focus of his work is moving behavioral and nutritional interventions upstream and using technology to make evidence-based care available to more patients. He has led Cleveland Clinic’s partnership with Ayble Health to integrate digital behavioral and nutritional interventions into clinical workflows and expand access to whole-person care. He is also an inventor on the Ayble Health Digital Care Platform.
His broader work focuses on healthcare transformation, digital health integration, innovative team-based care models, and partnerships that bridge traditional healthcare delivery with emerging technologies. He is particularly interested in developing models that can improve clinical outcomes and patient experience while expanding access and reducing the overall cost of care.
Dr. Lupe received his doctorate in clinical psychology from Florida Institute of Technology and completed his postdoctoral fellowship in clinical health psychology at the University of Florida. His research interests include digital health integration, psychosocial factors affecting chronic disease outcomes, inflammatory bowel disease, and the behavioral drivers of health and healthcare utilization.
