Dr. Thomas Schenk
Chief Medical Officer
Bio:
Dr. Thomas Schenk is Paradigm’s Chief Medical Officer. He joined the
company in January 2023, following Paradigm’s acquisition of Welvie,
where he served as the Chief Medical Officer. There, he worked to
develop and enhance Welvie’s offerings focused on health literacy and
empowering patients to make better health care and surgery decisions
through shared decision-making with their physicians. Dr. Schenk is
board certified in pediatric medicine and continues to be active as a
clinical preceptor and physician in Orchard Park, New York. He serves
on several volunteer boards, including the New York eHealth
Collaborative and the West Buffalo Charter School.
Before joining Welvie, Dr. Schenk was the Executive Vice President and
Chief Medical Officer at BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) of Western New
York and BlueShield of Northeastern New York. In that role, he managed networks, medical management for Medicare Advantage and
Commercial business segments, health plan quality, provider relations,
and pharmacy. He also worked closely with sales and government
relations. Dr. Schenk founded and led the development of Latus Medical Care, an innovative primary care practice model designed to cater to BCBS patients in western New York.
He has been a practicing pediatrician for over 20 years, serving as the
managing business partner for the first portion of his career. Dr. Schenk
works as an advisor for the Blue Venture Fund, a venture capital arm of
Sandbox Industries, and has served as an advisor to several early-stage
and start-up companies.
